The Laurence Trust was founded in April 2012 by Pamela Nugent and her son Christopher Nugent. The Laurence Trust is a self-funded voluntary group providing online support to male eating disorder sufferers and their families; and providing a helpline from 6pm to 9pm 7 days per week.

We promote preventative awareness by delivering workshops to schools, community groups, and to healthcare providers, we engage with voluntary support groups to share best practice and ensure that Male support is continuous towards recovery. The Laurence Trust seek to  educate members of the public of males suffering eating disorders.

Our commitment is to ensure that every man, every carer and every friend and family member feel valued.  As trustees, we will act, along with our volunteers at all times with: Dedication, Care, Responsibility, Compassion and Empathy and Professionalism.

AMH EveryBODY

AMH EveryBODY aims to promote greater understanding and awareness of eating disorders. We have adopted a recovery approach to provide help and support to people with eating disorders and also to their friends and family within the Southern Trust area. We also advocate and lobby on their behalf, for specialist services.

We offer training programmes to support awareness raising, increase knowledge of eating disorders and promote early intervention and pathways to appropriate support. Programmes are offered to post-primary schools, youth and community groups and health professionals.

AMH EveryBODY provides one to one support and information to people with eating disorders, as well as their family and friends. We will ensure that individuals are signposted to support services as appropriate e.g. GP, Specialist Eating Disorder services, community and voluntary services.

Monthly Care Support Groups are held - Second Wednesday of every month, 7-9pm

Tescos Extra Community Room, Bridgewater Retail Park, Banbridge, BT32 4LF

AMH EveryBODY also provides 5 week creative courses for individuals living with an eating disorder in the Southern Trust area. These courses are chance to learn a new skill for enjoyment that can be used as part of your recovery.

fightED

fightED provides support and advice to parents and carers who have a loved one suffering from an eating disorder.

The charity was founded, and is run by, a family who have experienced and overcome an eating disorder, giving them first-hand experience and real understanding and insight of the devastating impact that eating disorders have on the whole family, not just the individual.

fightED are the only organisation in Ireland to deliver the world-renowned New Maudsley Model workshops, which are designed specifically to educate and empower parents and carers.

The workshops explore the difficulties in being a carer, what eating disorders are, causes of eating disorders, self-care and different caring styles, as well as teaching parents enhanced communication skills, the psychology of change, how to deal with conflict, how to promote recovery in their loved one, and many more skills.

This leaves parents feeling better equipped to manage what is often a difficult and stressful situation.

fightED also provide support and advice to families via phone and email.
