What is the 1-1 peer support service?
The 1-1 service offers people affected by eating disorders/disordered eating a safe space to talk to a trained member of staff about their experiences, thoughts and feelings. 1-1-1 sessions are available through the following mediums:
Email
Email 1-1s are like an e-version of a phone call, they are guided by the person and we can talk about anything they like or are having difficulty with right now. Replies typically come within 1 - 3 working days.
Phone Call
Our 1-1 phone calls work on a first-come, first-serve appointment basis. We take bookings in advance for a specific time between 09:00-17:00. They are guided by the person and we can talk about anything they like or are having difficulty with right now. Sessions last for a maximum of 1 hour.
Online Appointments
Our 1-1 online appointments take place on Zoom and they work on a first-come, first-serve basis. We take bookings in advance for a specific time between 09:00-17:00. They are guided by the person and we can talk about anything they like or are having difficulty with right now. Sessions last for a maximum of 1 hour.
In-person Appointments
Our 1-1 in-person appointments take place in our offices in Belfast City Centre. They work on a first-come, first-serve basis. We take bookings in advance for a specific time between 09:00-17:00. They are guided by the person and we can talk about anything they like or are having difficulty with right now. Sessions last for a maximum of 1 hour.
Who can access the one-to-one peer support service?
You are welcome to book a 1-1 session if you are 18 or over, and are affected by eating disorders/disordered eating. This includes anyone who:
- has or has had an eating disorder or disordered eating
- thinks that they might have an eating disorder or disordered eating
- struggles with food, eating or how they look
- is supporting a loved one who has an eating disorder or disordered eating
- is worried about a loved one who might be struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating
All our services are free and confidential. Self-referral is accepted and an individual does not require a formal diagnosis of any kind.
How do I register for the 1-1 peer support service?
Contact us and state which type of 1-1 session you would like. One of our members of staff will reply within 1-3 working days to arrange a suitable date and time. They will also be able to answer any questions that you may have.
